The Verge: the next Xbox will take control of TV

Now not a day goes by without new rumors circulate on the next Xbox, and this time is the US site The Verge , recognized in the past for having circulated rumor, adding important irons in the fire.

The Verge says that, according to multiple sources, the next Xbox will be designed to "take control of TV": but what does this mean? Simply that the console will have an HDMI input (as already pointed out in a previous rumor ) that will be used to receive the signal of TV and set-top boxes for cable TV (in Europe probably decoder for satellite TV); the video will be then sent back to television with the interface and additional information, so that the console may have constantly checking than displayed.

An example understandable at all is related to Xbox Live alert: If for example we are seeing a program on TV and someone sends us a message or invites us to playing on Live, the console will show the appropriate messages directly on the television program. But this is just an example: MS plans the console will receive support for all major cable operators, satellite/imagine to view information relating to programming, enriched the program shown in a certain time or even to be able to program the •hard disk recording programs.

Kinect too, according to sources of The Verge, will return in this general framework, and not only to control the console with gestures or voice: an example that has been done is the sensor will understand when we are watching TV or when we get away or move their gaze, and may consequently pause the program to restart it later. This example makes us realize that the console could have PVR functionality, to pause and restart real-time television programs.

The Verge also claims that Microsoft will ensure the success of this feature by making agreements with all major television providers: our hypothesis is that might be created interactive programmes transmitted via cable/satellite but with whom the console would allow us to interact in real time. Guess even more boost: the console might know when the TV is broadcasting advertisements making it interactive or recorded in any way the level of interest of viewers to spot.

In all of this, according to the American site is always online feature: console to allow access to these functions at any time, the console should have constant access to the internet.

This is for now only by rumor but there seem increasingly plausible: our hope is that, if this were confirmed, the House of Redmond is putting as much commitment in advancing the new gaming console. According to the latest rumor, we will have to wait until May 21 to find out.
