Lightning has 13 days to complete his mission and save the planet, that meanwhile changes with an internal clock of 24 hours and a day/night cycle and dynamic in real-time. Players might even fail to get within 13 days, as shares of Lightning can slow down or speed up the end of the world.

We must also pay special attention to the time of day in the game, in fact some events or missions are only available at certain times of day (morning, afternoon, evening and night). Square-Enix is still adjusting the duration of one day within the game, but according to Toriyama should settle on 2 hours, bringing the length of the story (if you complete in 13 days claimed) about 26 hours.

Finally the fact that time flows continuously can push the player to start a second game to accept missions in different periods of the day, so you always have new positions compared to the previous game.
