BioShock Infinite: new aspects of how "1999"

During a recent interview, the Creative Director of Irrational Games Ken Levine has described new details of unpublished mode called simply 1999 which will be present in BioShock Infinite eagerly awaited. As previously explained, this mode will give the possibility to the hard core gamers to face this new chapter in the series in a way quite different from that seen in previous episodes.

First of all, Levine pointed out that in 1999 players must toil much to achieve desired results even by virtue of the fact that in order to proceed at best, there will be a need to focus carefully in the progression and specialization of its alter ego in the game. The player will be granted only specialize on the use of a particular weapon or a specific power, this will result in a deficit as regards the remaining weapons and powers that we can equally use but with which we feel more at ease. Putting an example: If during the game we decide to specialize in using the rifle, will have no more familiar in the use of guns or other any weapon and the character will suffer during the fighting. The same shall be valid for the speech powers. It will be necessary, therefore, seek with accuracy, in locations, ammunition for the weapon tied to our specialization. This will lead to having to find the right solution, or the right path, in scenarios with many pitfalls.

In Levine's intent is to enter the mode as an unlockable element during the adventure. This will mean that 1999 will not be bootable from now, the more experienced players and fans to dance will have an incentive to give the best of their adventure and be able to unlock this fateful mode.
