Oltre all'ingente mole di trailer pubblicati nel corso dell'evento, al The Game Awards 2016 sono stati proclamati i titoli videoludici vincitori delle diverse categorie proposte. Ad accaparrarsi il premio più ambito di "Gioco dell'Anno" è stato l'FPS di Blizzard Entertainment Overwatch.

Da menzionare assolutamente anche il titolo di id Software / Bethesda DOOM che si porta a casa il premio "Migliore colonna sonora". Anche Naughty Dog non rimane a bocca asciutta con il suo interessantissimo Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End che si aggiudica il premio per la migliore narrazione.
