Starfield: Shattered Space arrives on September 30, Earth vehicle and Series S update from today

Shattered Space, the new long-awaited expansion of Starfield, has a release date: it will arrive on September 30th. The news on the Bethesda title, however, does not end there, in fact the REV-8 (terrestrial vehicle), one of the most requested features by fans, and the graphic adjustment for Xbox Series S which introduces 40 and 60 fps, are available from today via free update.

Here is the official information on the news of today's update, followed by the trailer showing the new REV-8.

The REV-8 is equipped with a powerful turret, armor for additional protection, space for a companion, and thrusters that can help you quickly escape from a complicated situation. The thrusters can also provide an upward thrust that allows you to glide and reach areas that would have been almost inaccessible before.

To deploy the REV-8, visit a marine technician to install a vehicle module. Once you have installed it on your ship, the REV-8 will be ready to use automatically after landing.

With the August update also come the new video settings for Xbox Series S, similar to the current ones for Xbox Series X:

  • Desired framerate: You can now choose a framerate of 30, 40, 60, or Unlimited on VRR displays. If you don't have a 120hz VRR display, you'll still be able to select between 30 or 60. If you don't have a VRR screen, selecting 60 may cause the screen to tear.
  • Priority: You can now specify a priority between Graphics or Performance while the system tries to reach the framerate target. If you've chosen a framerate lens of 60 or higher, you'll want to choose the Performance option. Prioritizing graphics maintains maximum resolution, with full detail for special effects, lighting, and crowds. Prioritizing performance reduces internal resolution and special effects, lighting, and crowd detail. Both modes can dynamically adjust the internal resolution when scenes or action require it. Switching between the two modes will see the lighting change for a short time as the system adjusts to the new setup.
  • V-Sync: You can now turn V-Sync on or off. Disabling it will treat game frames separately from the monitor's refresh rate, and screen tearing may occur. By activating it, the frame rate is synchronized with the monitor's refresh rate, avoiding screen tearing but limiting the number of frames.
