Grinding Gear Games today announced a welcome new feature for Path of Exile 2, a free-to-play action-RPG that will arrive in Early Access later this year: local co-op. Thanks to this feature, two players will be able to share their adventure side by side on the same console, either with a single account or with two separate accounts.

The announcement is accompanied by the release of a series of information about the console version of the game, as well as a new gameplay trailer. Here's it all below!

New Couch Co-op Mode - Gamers no longer need multiple devices to play with their friends. A new feature, couch co-op, is available on all supported platforms and requires two controllers to play. Players will be able to play cooperatively on a single account or log in with two separate Path of Exile accounts on the same PC or console.

Controller Experience Redefined - Path of Exile 2 has radically redesigned its user experience for controllers. Dual-stick controls, a new attack system that allows you to fully customize your control scheme with 24 attack slots, and a redesign of inventory management make the game much easier to deal with. In addition, each skill has received specific attention from a new dedicated console team to ensure that it works perfectly on a controller as well.

Easier to play - Path of Exile is a game that is famous for its complexity, but Path of Exile 2 makes it much easier for new players to explore and understand the game's deep mechanics. In addition to simplifying many mechanics, in-game skill tutorial videos explain how skills work and how to use them in combat, a new hint system added to item hovers allows players to find out exactly how stats work at the touch of a button, and a new system that allows them to view the exact effects each choice would have on their characters makes understanding the game much easier.

Cross-play, Cross-progression, Simultaneous Throws - Path of Exile 2 introduces cross-play and cross-progression on all supported platforms. You'll be able to play with your friends on other platforms or switch between console and PC without losing any progress. The launch and all future updates will be distributed at the same time as the PC version.

• A Next-Gen Action RPG - Path of Exile 2 is a next-gen Action RPG created by Grinding Gear Games. Set years after the original Path of Exile, it will allow you to return to the dark world of Wraeclast to put an end to the corruption that is spreading.

• Lots of new content - Path of Exile 2 features a new campaign divided into six acts, 100 different environments, 600 monsters and 100 bosses.

• Familiar and New Classes – 12 Character Classes – Path of Exile 2 features twelve character classes, two for each combination of Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence. You can combine the skills of many classes to create your ideal character. Each of the twelve character classes has its own three Ascendancy specializations, for a total of 36 Ascendancy classes to choose from.

• New Skill Gem System - Path of Exile 2 features 240 Skill Gems that grant devastating active abilities and 200 Support Gems that modify their behavior.

• Endgame - At the end of Path of Exile 2's six-act campaign, you enter the endgame. Each of the more than 100 maps in the endgame has its own boss battle and modifiers that allow you to get revamped versions of many of Path of Exile's past leagues.
