The Polish studio Mighty Koi, made up of former developers from CD Projekt RED, Ubisoft, Wargaming and From Software, has announced the development of Thorgal, an action-RPG set in the world of the Franco-Belgian comic book of the same name by Jean Van Hamme, published in Italy by Panini Comics.

The developers of Mighty Koi set themselves an extremely ambitious goal with Thorgal : to compete with The Witcher 4, the next RPG from CD Projekt RED, since both games should be released in a few years and thanks to the use of Unreal Engine 5 which will allow the title to have a first-level graphic design.

In Thorgal we will take on the role of Thorgal Aegirsson, the son of a couple of aliens who crashed on Earth due to a failure of their spaceship: his mother gave birth to him once the spaceship landed off Norway, and to save him he was left in an escape pod then collected by a tribe of Vikings who welcomed him as one of their own.

The story will therefore be immersed in Norse history and mythology, without disdaining fantastic and even science fiction elements, given the origins of the protagonist. In the comic, Thorgal becomes a great warrior, very skilled with a bow, who, despite being opposed by many for not being a true Viking, strives to protect humans and his original family from numerous threats, including "vengeful gods".

The announcement is accompanied by an announcement trailer and some concept art (below), while to see more of it we will probably have to wait a few years, since the title is for now without a release date and that it is not the only project of the Polish studio.
