Good Shepherd Entertainment and Upstream Arcade have announced the development of Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, a third-person roguelite action-adventure dedicated to the famous comic book character of Mike Mignola. The game, for now without a date, has cel-shaded visuals very similar to the drawings of the comic.

Developed by Upstream Arcade, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd is an original story created in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics and creator Mike Mignola. This roguelite action adventure game features monstrous hand-to-hand combat. As in the comics, the game sends Hellboy into a series of very different and completely unique adventures; although these stories are autonomous, they are all linked to the mysterious legacy of the Butterfly House.

History

Built in 1962 by occultist Pasquale Deneveaux, the Butterfly House is more than just a residence: it is a portal. Its perverse angles and non-Euclidean geometries were designed with a single ugly purpose: to open doors into a terrible and fascinating dimension called Wyrd.

Twenty years later, a B.P.R.D. agent is sent on a reconnaissance mission to the mansion and disappears immediately. It's up to you - Hellboy - and your team of Bureau agents to find their missing colleague and uncover the secrets of the Butterfly House.

As you investigate, you'll explore the Wyrd's wonderful and strange planes of existence, each home to powerful monsters, forgotten divine forms, magnificent treasures, and powerful secrets. But be careful, because an ancient evil stagnates in the most remote meanders of the Wyrd... An evil that can't wait to get out.
