During its showcase tonight THQ Nordic announced Gothic 1 Remake, the remake of the classic RPG recreated from scratch for next-generation consoles. The game is for now without a release date: we leave you below the first details, the announcement trailer and some images.

The kingdom of Myrtana has been invaded by a relentless horde of orcs.

To procure the vast amount of magic ore needed to forge powerful weapons, King Rhobar II puts to work all the prisoners available in the mines of Khorinis. To prevent him from escaping, the ruler asks his best wizards to create a magical barrier, but something goes wrong. Magic gets out of control and a revolt turns the mines into an unregulated area controlled by the most violent prisoners.
The king is forced to come to terms with the leaders of the new faction, while the tension between the different groups that populate the mine grows continuously. What no one expects is that the arrival of an unknown prisoner will completely change the situation.
