Microsoft Announces News for Game Pass, Cloud Gaming and Xbox Design Lab

Waiting for Sunday's Showcase that will be dedicated mainly to games, Microsoft today announced some important "structural" innovations that will help outline the future of Xbox for the coming years. These are news that touch Xbox Game Pass, Cloud Gaming (which will be integrated into Samsung TVs) and also the Xbox Design Lab service, the only case in the sector of "official" customization of game controllers. Let's see them together.

Xbox Cloud Gaming arrives on Samsung TVs

Microsoft and Samsung have announced that from June 30 all Samsung Smart TVs in the 2022 range will be updated with the addition of the Xbox app that will allow us to link our Xbox account (with Game Pass Ultimate subscription) and a Bluetooth controller to play at any time the many titles present in the Cloud Gaming service. This will give us the possibility to play on TV titles of all kinds even without owning a console.

Games purchased in Cloud Gaming

As already announced in previous years, Microsoft is preparing to finally allow Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to play in the Cloud not only to the titles present in the service but also to those purchased separately and digitally. This feature will arrive later this year and will not be active for all games but only a selection of them, depending on the publishers that allow it. To give a non-real example (we do not yet know which games will be activated to the feature), even if Elden Ring is not available in the Pass you can still play it in the Cloud if you have purchased it on the Store.

Game demos for Game Pass members (codenamed Project Moorcroft)

Over the next year, Microsoft will give developers (mainly independent, but also AAA) the opportunity to release preview demos for their upcoming titles, playable only by Game Pass members. These will be demos similar to those that participants at fairs such as E3 can play months before the release of the games, useful to test the ground on the approval of the public.

Developers will have complete statistics on the performance of their demos (by how many people are played and for how long, etc.) and above all they will be paid by Microsoft based on these performances.

New Design Lab options

Microsoft has finally reactivated the Xbox Design Lab after a few days of closure of the service, adding important news: not only the already announced new "rainbow" colorway to celebrate Pride Month, but also new pastel colors and camouflage patterns. It's time to create your new controller!

And this is just a taste: we just have to wait for Sunday evening to find out what else will be announced!
