EA Announces Battlefield 2042 Open Beta, Coming Next Week
The Battlefield 2042 Open Beta will feature conquest mode on the Orbital Map, previously shown in the game's reveal trailer. On next-gen consoles we will be able to participate in 128-player battles, while on old gen consoles they will be limited to 64 players.
During the Beta, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the franchise's iconic Total War, as one of four unique specialists each with their own individual style, specialties and traits. Players can step into the shoes of Boris,a Russian engineer equipped with an SG-36; Casper,a South African expert in camouflage and long-range attacks; Falck,a skilled German doctor specializing in support; and Mackay,a Canadian hiker and nomad who is equipped with a grappling hook gun.
Set in Kourou, French Guyana, the Battlefield 2042 Orbital Map allows players to experience a race against time in hostile conditions as they fight around the site of an impending rocket launch. The sectors found on this map include the Assembly Building, the Launch Pad and the walkway that connects them. During a game of Conquest, players will experience Battlefield dynamic maps, featuring an automatic rocket launch sequence, a zipline crossing through lightning towers, vehicle combat in adverse weather conditions, including an unexpected tornado that alters the flow of battle, and much more.
