Ubisoft reveals Assassin's Creed Infinity, codename for new episode of series
According to bloomberg's report, Assassin's Creed Infinity is still far from release.
Also confirming the nature of the product is Ubisoft Quebec CEO Nathalie Bouchard and Ubisoft Montreal CEO Christophe Derennes who acknowledge the existence of Assassin's Creed Infinity, as well as detailing the game's collaborative development structure:
"From its action-adventure title origins to its RPG evolution, Assassin's Creed has shown how the decisions we make now, no matter how big or small they are, these can influence the events of the future. After Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Assassin's Creed Valhalla broke records, we're at just that moment when we know that the decisions we're making for the franchise will now affect its future for years to come. Along with our announcement of new content coming to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, we wanted to share some key updates on the talented and creative minds that will now work in a collaborative facility between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec that will lead, grow, evolve, and define the overall future of Assassin's Creed including a major upcoming project under development, codename Assassin's Creed Infinity."
The new collaborative structure will be led by Marc-Alexis Côté: he is the senior producer of Assassin Creed Odyssey and will be joined by Étienne Allonier of Ubisoft Montreal, director of Assassin's Creed for the last 10 years, and their respective teams to ensure that the franchise continues to exceed the expectations of fans who have called for a more cohesive approach to its development in recent years.
The joint production of Assassin's Creed Infinity will be led by Julien Laferrière of Ubisoft Montreal, who has been named senior producer. Laferrière brings with him extensive experience having worked on Assassin's Creed since 2007 before becoming more recently producer of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
There will be collaboration between jonathan dumont and clint hocking studios who will share leadership as creative directors, overseeing the respective teams of Ubisoft Quebec and Ubisoft Montreal. Dumont was previously world director of Assassin's Creed Syndicate at Ubisoft Quebec before becoming creative director of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Meanwhile, this moment marks Hocking's return to Ubisoft Montreal, having started in the studio in 2001 as a level designer, game designer and screenwriter on the original Splinter Cell before becoming creative director on Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Far Cry 2 and many others.
Ubisoft explains that the pandemic and work from home have radically changed the way they produce games, having a moment to reflect on their organization.
Rather than continuing to move from game to game in person, we deeply believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft's most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative way, less focused on studies, and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft.
Assassin's Creed has always been developed by multicultural teams with various backgrounds and perspectives that influenced the representation of its characters, places and cultures. While we know that there is always room for improvement, Ubisoft is convinced that this new structure allows players to guarantee greater quality.
We hope that this incredible new experience will bring us a great game in all respects, we look forward to it!
