Apex Legends: Cross-play arrives on October 6

Respawn announced today that with the next Apex Legendsupdate, scheduled for October 6, the long-awaited cross-playfeature will finally arrive, allowing Xbox, PlayStation and PC players to play with each other with full support for matchmaking and cross-platform voice chat.

The new feature will allow you to search for a friend, on whatever platform it is, to add it to your friends and invite them into the game; you can also search for public matches through matchmaking. But there's one limitation: Respawn wants to make sure that users who use the mouse and keyboard don't have an advantage over console users, so matchmaking will only work between Xbox and PS. You can only join a friend who plays on PC at all times, and at that point you'll be matched exclusively with PC users.

From October 6, cross-play will be enabled by default, so you should start seeing PlayStation Xbox players frequently matches; you can turn it off via a cross-play option, although Respawn doesn't recommend it because it will greatly lengthen matchmaking times, as the game will only put you in the game with other players who have turned off cross-play.
