New leaks on CoD Black Ops Cold War: launch date, cross-gen bundle and history
First of all, we find a rather solid reference to the release date of the game, which would appear to be 13 November; This is because in the files there is a reference to the last date useful to redeem the DLCs included in the physical copies of the game, which is always exactly one year after launch and in the files is reported to be November 13, 2021. It is therefore easy to deduce the launch date of the game.
And always speaking of dates, the files mention that the multiplayer will be revealed on September 9th; this means that the revelation expected tomorrow (and, later, Thursday at the live Opening Night Live) will be dedicated exclusively to the Campaign.
Instead, a description of the game's plot has emerged stating that this will be the direct sequel to the first CoD: Black Ops. Here it is in full:
"The iconic Black Ops series returns with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the direct sequel to the original and fan favorite Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Black Ops Cold War will take fans into the depths of the volatile Cold War geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. Nothing is ever as it seems in a gripping single-player campaign, in which players will come face to face with historical characters and harsh truths as they battle around the world through iconic locations like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, the KGB's Soviet headquarters and more.
As elite operatives, you will follow in the footsteps of a dark figure named Perseus intent on destabilizing the balance of global power and changing the course of history. Take thedark center of this global conspiracy along with the iconic characters Woods, Mason and Hudson and a new cast of agents who will attempt to stop a plot designed for decades."
Finally, one last detail comes about the next-gen support of the game: it seems that the title will not offer a free upgrade to the next-gen consoles, because in addition to the Standard and Ultimate editions between the game files there is a "Cross-gen Bundle", which will probably allow players to purchase both the current-gen and next-gen versions, at a higher price than the simple standard edition but lower than the single purchase of both editions of the game.
Being present in the game's files, this information can already be considered as official, but of course we await Activision's announcements for definitive confirmation.
