A rumor dating back to last August had anticipated that, after the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare,a Battle Royale mode of the famous war FPS would arrive in early 2020, accessible free of charge even to those who do not own the title of Infinity Ward. Today some rumours suggest that this separate game mode will be called Call of Duty: Warzone,and that it won't be long before it's available.

The name of the mode comes from a Reddit user who, in a post now removed,had inserted the image you see at the top and that bears the title Call of Duty: Warzone,showing the character of Ghost (just reintroduced in Season 2 of MW) on a burning helicopter and accompanied by other soldiers; normally posts like this would not be taken too seriously, but the well-known insider/analyst Daniel Ahmad picked up the news in a tweet adding that " we can play it lowersoon". This has obviously added legitimacy to the whole thing.

But that's not enough: players who downloaded the massive Season 2 update of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have noticed that, on the mode selection screen, a large "Top Secret" area has now appeared that is thought to soon be activated with Warzone mode. In addition, some players, such as Twitter users TheGamingRevolution and Ryan B.,seem to have somehow managed to access different menus and images of this mode, even managing to visit the map with a bird's-eye view and low polygonal mole.
