Obsidian: The Outer Worlds is only improved on Xbox One X, video from the first 30 minutes
Speaking to the Windows Centralwebsite, in fact, a spokesperson for the Californian studio stated "it's in 4K on Xbox One X, no improvement for PS4 Pro". If you want to enjoy it on console and on a 4K screen, then, Microsoft's flagship console will be the best way to play it.
This is an unexpected "exclusive", as multi-format titles are generally also improved for PS4 Pro, but it is probably the fact that the studio is owned by Microsoft: it is possible that initially there was no provision for any and that the parent company funded Obsidian for the implementation of xbox One X enhancements. A similar thing had happened with We Happy Few of Compulsion Games, which after the acquisition of the studio by Microsoft added 4K support on The Xbox One X while going to "only" 1080p on PS4 Pro.
UPDATE 17/10: Pressed by fans, Obsidian released an official statement on Twitter explaining that although the game has 4K resolution and 4K textures only on Xbox One X and PC, the PS4 Pro version still has an improvement in the form of 1440p. This should cheer up Sony fans a minimum, although the best version of the title, for the console world, remains that Xbox One X.
In addition to this news we finally offer a video with the first 30 minutes of the game in PC version, which highlights among other things the excellent character editor, excellent quality of animated sequences and also a good general in-game graphics quality, which would also look better than previous footage. Find it below: good viewing!
