Phil Spencer: Microsoft's focus with Project Scarlett will be frame-rate and playability
Spencer explained that, in the next generation, he wants to "makesure the games load up with incredible speed, make sure the games spin at the highest possible frame-rate", explaining that one of the goals in the The console's design is that it is able to run games in 4K and 60fps without problems or compromises,as is the case today on Xbox One X, where developers often have to choose between resolution and frame-rate for their games, or leave players through options.
As for the gaming experience, Spencer also explains, "Howfast do you load games? Do I feel like I can access a game as fast as I can? And while I'm playing, what does it feel like? Does it look and feel like no other game seenbefore? That's our goal."
In short, it seems that beyond graphic realism, with the new console Microsoft wants to aim for very fluid and extremely satisfying gaming experiences also from the point of view of caricatures and general feeling. Will we finally be able to reach 60 fps as the standard frame-rate for the next generation? Probably not with all games, as there will always be developers willing to sacrifice performance for more spectacular graphics, but we hope that numerically titles with such fluidity will become the majority.
Please note that Project Scarlett is the next Microsoft console, expected by the end of 2020 and will also be compatible with all Xbox One titles and previous Xbox titles that can be played on Xbox One.
