RageSquid: Game Pass quadrupled Descenders sales
Mike Rose of the RageSquid study, who authored the game, says it is. Rose explained that the Game Pass has proven to be a great advertising showcase for Descenders; it's true that subscribers to the service didn't need to buy it, but at the same time everyone else saw the title appear in numerous sections of the Xbox interface, which saw, throughout the month of launch, quadruple the sales of the title compared to the previous preriodo. And even after this first period of "euphoria" was over, the game has now settled on three times the sales it had before; We're obviously talking about "pure" sales of the game, outside of the Game Pass which has still seen a big spike in the users of the game bringing the online population to about 600,000 players.
In short, when Microsoft said that the inclusion of titles in the Game Pass causes an increase in sales outside of the subscription service, instead of knocking them down as many thought, it did not lie: the developers confirm that this is what really happens. It's no surprise, then, that more and more games have been coming into the Game Pass since launch; among the most noteworthy upcoming ones are Blair Witch and The Outer Worlds, not to mention the gears 5first party production. A boon for subscribers, but also for developers: it's what they say "a win-win situation".
