It's been known for about a year that Vancouver-based EA Motive studio is working on a new episode of the Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfaresaga, and it looks like the new zombie and plant shooter will now be finally announced.

EA has registered the Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborvillebrand in Europe, with such timing that we are told that the game will be announced at gamescom next week, perhaps during the opening conference of Monday 19evening.

For now the only clue we have is this newly registered name, and the fact that it includes the word "Battle" might suggest that it's actually a new episode of the Garden Warfareshooter series, plus for a few weeks EA has been sending a few selected players the invitation to test a title codenamed "Picnic", most likely for this title.

But the fact that the game isn't calledGarden Warfare 3definitely leaves room for speculation: is EA trying a new path to the series, perhaps free-to-play and in Battle Royale sauce?

We just have to wait until next week - or maybe even less - to find out if the game will really be announced!
