Rumor: Microsoft will introduce a system of Gamertag style Discord

Among the various innovations that will be at the Xbox Conference of E3, the 9 evening, Microsoft should also talk about the next updates to the operating system of Xbox One, which will probably prepare the way to what we'll see with the next line of consoles. And it seems that among the new features there will be an evolution of the current Gamertag system.

The news comes from the Windows Centralsite, where the well-known journalist Jez Corden claims to have learned of a new system of Gamertag "style discord" that will allow new users to choose their name on Live with more freedom.

Meanwhile, Corden explains that it won't change anything for current Xbox Live users: Your Gamertag will not be changed in any way and you will not use the new system unless you decide to change your name to live. For new users and those who want to change Gamertag, however, there will be the option to choose a name already taken by other users: In this case, similar to what happens on Discord, the system will associate to the name a random number preceded by a hash (#) that Ren That name will be so unique. For example, if you want to take the Gamertag "MajorNelson", the system will assign you the name "MajorNelson # 0948".

So composed gamertags will be shown in a particular way, it is not yet clear how, from the games that support the new system, while in all the other games that Gamertag appears as "MajorNelson0948", without the hash.

However, this system will apply only to the already occupied gamertags: if you find a single one and not taken by anyone, no number code will be assigned.

Corden finally explains that this is just one of the new additions to the management of Xbox Live: It seems that Microsoft is also preparing a complete remake of our Live profile, which will show our activity not only on the Xbox games but also those of other Platforms: This will serve not only to facilitate the integration with the PC world, but also with games that, on other platforms such as mobile and Nintendo Switch, will use the new APIS of Xbox Live to log users and make available targets, Groups, friends lists and all the Live features.

This certainly seems like an interesting evolution of the Xbox Live system; We await the E3 to discover all the news about it!
