The Sinking City: the demonstration of the Gamescom and our impressions

If you enjoyed the beautiful cinematic trailer of The Sinking City released during the Gamescom, you will probably be interested to learn and see more of the game by Frogwares, and this is an opportunity to do so.

The game publisher Bigben Interactive has just released the same demonstration of the game which was shown behind closed doors at Gamescom, so rather than publish our usual preview that describes what we saw we will leave to you follow the entire demonstration of about 12 minutes, but commenting on how it was explained by the Director of development in Cologne.

The demonstration that you can see in the video below shows one of the side-quests in the game, entitled "silence is golden"; Here the game's protagonist, detective Charles Reed, receives a letter from a woman in need of help, and joins her in her house only to find that his mouth is completely sealed. The woman managed to grind your teeth something, telling him that an obscure entity told her to "shut up" and do not discuss some things you know and that, if he didn't, it would have been worse for her.

Despite the setting of The Sinking City looks like a normal city in 1920, in fact the place was flooded with monstrous entities belonging to the pantheon of the myth of Cthulhu, which have flooded much of the city at the same time attracting outsiders from out of the city by visions. The game is a third-person adventure similar to previous games in French, or Developer's the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, but with a lot more paranormal and with a real open world exploration, which sees Reed explore streets, buildings and use a motor boat to move from one area to another in the city.

A detail is important, however, is that relating to the complete absence of indicators of mission on the game map, which thus serves as a reference for orientation: developers want that players reach the various places by following only the signs on the clues they find, exactly like the protagonist of the game. Later in the video you'll see then how Reed coming to the woman's House to find out what happened, starting to analyze all the evidence: a camera, the dead dog and crushed the woman, a teddy bear stained with blood and so on. Once you have enough, goes to a special mode that allows him to reconstruct the incident putting the various clues, in much the same way as was done in The Vanishing of Ethan Carter . Understands so that a mysterious intruder, apparently a witch was responsible for everything, but read more needs access to your neighbor's apartment of the woman, a photographer. The door is locked and then starts looking for the key, which is in a basement where we also encounter the monstrous creatures that give us a chance to take a look at the game's combat system, of course, always bearing in mind that this is an investigative adventure and not a shooter.

Let see what happens afterwards. The new title of Frogwares failed however to be interested, including a good graphics albeit Bill looks a little Woody movement; If developers are able to equip it with a history of Arkham engaging and interesting, might prove to be a title not to be missed for lovers of this type of games. Good vision!
