MS reveals some news of October: Dolby Vision and avatars in dashboard
Its first new models introduced by update, which will be activated in the coming weeks for those who have downloaded the update, concern the rise to support Dolby Vision for streaming movies and the arrival of new avatars in dashboard .
As far as the Dolby Vision competes with the HDR format, the update enables support of this technology for TVs that have, and for now only on Netflix. The difference compared to normal HDR is that HDR uses a unique setting of brightness levels for the duration of an episode or TV series, while Dolby Vision allows you to dynamically reset the levels while watching, so that for example a an even greater range of gray tones in dark scenes or major variations in brightness in brightly lit ones. Although so far the support Dolby Vision was announced only for streaming video, we expect arrivals subsequently also in Blu-Ray, for movies that include that technology. Highly unlikely, however, that they get in games now that the technology actually adopted by the developers is the HDR.
Regarding the new avatars , whose editor is recently arrived in Preview, these will begin now to appear everywhere in the dashboard to represent your friends, of course only when they decided to use the Avatar instead of a normal photos. You'll see them then move and animate on the Home, in the comparison screen Gamerscore, in News Feed post, comments and so on.
Other than that, I'm coming more news to be announced later. Stay tuned!
