As we know from Phil Spencer's statements, Microsoft has resumed investing in first party studios and the development of exclusive titles for Xbox and PC for a couple of years, with the first results of this policy that should be evident already in a few days, during E3. And today comes a rumor that, if confirmed, would reiterate their commitment in this regard.

The ever-attentive users of the ResetEra forum have in fact discovered that Microsoft executive Keith Ranger Dolliver (whose official title is "Vice President & Vice General Counsel of Business and Business Development") has received a seat on the board of directors of Playground Games.

The news is important because Dolliver, whose role in Microsoft is not related to the gaming section but to all business activities, has in the past been included in the boards of directors of other companies before their acquisition by Microsoft: it happened with Linkedin, Rare and Lionhead.

This move therefore seems to be a prelude to an acquisition by Microsoft of the English software house, which we remind you to be the author of the excellent racing series Forza Horizon and that at the beginning of 2017 opened a second studio to work on a new open world action-RPG title that, in all probability, will be the new Fable.

If the rumor is confirmed, this is excellent news for the Xbox world, because it would further confirm Microsoft's commitment to strengthening the park of internal studios working on quality first party titles. Playground has proven to be an excellent studio, and an acquisition by Microsoft could only benefit the company's Gaming section. The move would also accompany the rumored opening of a new studio in Santa Monica.
