After rumors surfaced a few days ago about a series of projects in the works at Microsoft, including a new Fable, other members of the industry, including journalists and developers, came forward with their information about it. One of these is former Lionhead Lead Engine Programmer Don Williamson who, in a now-removed tweet, said he had confirmation that the project is underway, and also knew which British studio is working on it.

Williamson did not want to clarify what the studio was, but when asked if it was a studio in Brighton (where Studio Gobo's "Electric Square" studio resides , which we know is working on a game on behalf of Microsoft), the developer explained that there is no one there able to carry out a project of this magnitude.

And here comes another source. Christopher Dring, publisher of the site dedicated to the British video game industry GamesIndustry.biz, commented in recent days that a new Fable is in development, also explaining that the studio involved resides in an English city that begins with the letter "L", and finally adding : "If only there was a studio in the UK that is currently hiring for an action RPG project and that already works a lot for Xbox ... because it would be perfect for Fable 4."

The British studio that already works on Xbox and that has started the development of an open world action-RPG hiring a lot of staff is Playground Games, the authors of the Forza Horizon series: their new studio, which will work parallel to the main one dedicated to the racing series, is called Playground Leamington and is based in the English town of Leamington Spa, coincidentally starting with "L".

It seems that the new Fable is in development at the new studio of the authors of Forza Horizon, who this year have hired numerous new developers attracting veterans who have worked on open world titles such as MGS V, GTA V and Hellblade. If this is confirmed, however, do not expect news of the new game for a few years: development began in 2017 and a project of this type probably takes at least 3 years to complete, which would put it out around 2019. It's also unlikely that Microsoft will announce their existence during the upcoming E3, given their new policy of revealing games only when they are close to release.
