Microsoft reveals new function of the Mobile Games for Xbox One and X: here's how it works

The more curious among members of Alpha Ring Xbox One Preview program participants may have noticed, with the latest update, the appearance of a new mysterious voice in the management of "add-on remaining" (i.e. those included in Season Pass and not yet available) console: " Compact Games ".

As we show in the screenshot below, selecting this item appears this explanation: " If you have games on this Xbox One that can be compacted remaining usable, you'll see them here ."

But what are these "Compact games"? Microsoft has revealed a Digital Foundry, which he explains in a video . If you follow us constantly, you probably already know a future features announced for the console, that is the possibility to download on Xbox One X 4 k assets, while the Xbox One standard they will not be dumped to save space (a unless you decide to download them anyway for later transfer to X to the purchase, which will be available soon).

Well, this will be possible thanks to the function of the mobile games , but will also cover other areas. Basically Microsoft has released a new SDK for developers that will allow him to isolate certain parts of their games, making them independent of the other and downloadable separately; This will allow players to download only the parts that interest them a game for faster downloading, or delete those that they think will not use more, so as to free disk space to devote to other games.

For example, 343 Industries may cause Halo 6 is divided into parts the country, Shooting, Multiplayer and forge; players can choose to download only the parts which are more interested or, after playing the campaign, uninstall only that part keeping installed other components. And if you are interested only in Multiplayer, can keep that removing everything else with a substantial space saving. Of course you can redownload the deleted parts when necessary.

Although many players do today using an external drive to expand the capacity of the console, most uses only the internal disk, and with the increase in size that the titles will especially on Xbox One X, a similar function could be very welcome to the players. What do you think?
