Announced over a year ago, Psychonauts 2 was completely gone by radar, at least so far: the independent publisher Starbreeze has announced that it has reached an agreement with Double Fine Productions to publish the game in 2018.

The game will be a third-person action platformer in which will just pose as Razepoutine Aquato , a new psiconaut with powerful psychic abilities how to break into other people's minds. Players can also take advantage of numerous powers such as telekinesis, pyrokinesis and levitation, in combination with the acrobatic skills platform of Raz, to explore mental worlds of eccentric characters in the game.

The story of Psychonauts 2 picks up immediately after the events of the first game and adventure VR Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin , but players will not need to have played the previous chapters to enjoy Psychonauts 2 . In this new story Raz arrives at the headquarters Psychonaut, thrilled to finally become a Psychonaut officer, but soon will be divided between the laws of Psychonauts, loyalty to his friends, and a secret mission that could undo everything he has fought so hard.
