Microsoft celebrates the success of Xbox One and gives us a glimpse of the future
Also on the hardware front things went in a more than satisfactory: Xbox One continues to outpace sales of Xbox 360 constantly at equal distance from the launch. And saw that after 2 years of launch Xbox 360 was at an altitude of 17.7 million units sold, this tells us that the new console has exceeded that number closer to 20 million. Microsoft also announced that on 28 December Xbox Live has recorded the highest number of players connected in the history of the service: This includes both Xbox 360 users than those Xbox One, but it is a further demonstration of the success of the console around Christmas time.
Among other achievements during the year include:
- More than 200 new features developed and released for the operating system, including the New Xbox One Experience and the demand by backwards compatibility.
- Over 350 games released for Xbox One in 2015 (including first and third parts, ID at Xbox and titles backwards compatible).
- 4 billion unlocked by players in the 2015 goals, a total of 77 billion gamerpoints.
- In 2015, the Xbox community has delivered 6.5 million votes out of Xbox Feedback .
- Since the release of backward compatibility, the 12 November, players have recorded over 15 million hours of gameplay in Xbox 360 titles played on Xbox One.
- Stream from Xbox One on Windows 10 has been used for more than 6.6 million total hours.
And now we come to 2016: Microsoft promises a continuous commitment to backward compatibility, with hundreds of games that will be added during the year, plus many new features coming soon regarding the OS, Cortana (Narrator voice controlled) included.
But what interests us most are the games, and Microsoft about this topic even chest swells promising great line-up of any platform for 2016, starting with the following titles that we imagine, will be followed by other surprises to be announced:
- Gears of War 4 – Multiplayer Beta in spring 2016/launch in autumn 2016
- Quantum Break – April 5, 2016
- Halo Wars 2 – autumn 2016
