4: fallout Pip-Boy app available, article on game graphics technology

Please note that from this morning is available both on Android that iOS and Windows Phone app Fallout Pip-Boy , which will sync to your Xbox One which turns on PS4 4 Fallout to allow you to easily manage all aspects of your character and play some simple mini-games.

Once synced to your console, your app will be used outside the home to make changes to the character: just then risincronizzarla with the game to apply what has been done. And of course the app is fully usable even if you don't have the Pip-Boy in the Collector's Edition of the game, which features a special housing to insert your smartphone.

This is not the only new thing this morning on the world of Fallout 4 : Bethesda also explains how the Creation Engine, the game engine was enhanced compared to previous RPG of the American home and what effects have been added. Here are all explained below, good reading!

The Fallout 4 graphics technology

The hardware they run on video games is evolving at great speed, offering new and exciting graphics capabilities. Our Creation Engine has evolved to accommodate this new technology, allowing graphs and designers to Bethesda Game Studios to create a new and exciting world. The technical team works closely with the team feel. Together, carefully selecting individual features based on performance and artistic objectives we set.

The first thing we did after Skyrim was improve the graphics Creation Engine component by adding a physics-based renderer. This new renderer allows you to add multiple dynamic lights in each scene and paint surfaces with realistic materials. We want the characters and objects in the world have a tangible aspect, and this goal is achieved through the use of materials with intrinsic properties: metal, for example, reflects the light differently from the wood.

As always, the world has a day/night cycle, including dynamic weather phenomena. To create volumetric lights accompanying the scene (sometimes called "the God"), we worked with our friends at NVIDIA. It is a partnership that dates back to the days of water effects present in Morrowind. The technique used here relies on the GPU and leverages hardware tessellation. Moving is beautiful, and adds depth to the atmospheric air of the contaminated area. As for all the other features we've been working hard regardless of platform.

When the rain comes, our new materials system allows bathing surfaces, while a new system of blood tissue management clothes, hair and vegetation when they suffer the effects of wind.

The player can explore the world at any time of the game, so we'll add a post-dynamic processes that enhance the intensity and the colors in the scene to get the most emotional impact. Our virtual camera has been improved. We do not want to reveal all the changes we made, but for those who love the technical details here is an example of what we added to the latest version of the Creation Engine:

  • Tiled deferred lighting
  • Temporal anti-aliasing
  • Screen space reflections
  • Bokeh depth of field
  • Screen space ambient occlusion
  • Height fog
  • Motion blur
  • Filmic tonemapping
  • Skin shading and custom hair
  • Dynamic tessellation hardware break
  • Volumetric light
  • Shading based on Physics for the correction of brightness

If you're not quite sure what it is, don't worry. What is important is the way this technology harmonizes with the graphics and gameplay Fallout 4 to create dynamic and engaging experience, regardless of your gaming system. We like to think of being a highly collaborative team, with an eye on the balance between graphics, gameplay and performance. When you get the chance to try out the game after its release on November 10, we hope you agree.
