After I announced last month , Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive return to talk about The Surge during the Gamescom in Cologne. The title will be a science fiction RPG and will be equipped with an "innovative" and "fighting an original character progression system, based on modular updates". Below, we present what the developer said on the history of the game.

Set in a dystopian heavily when the Earth is nearing its end, those who remain in overcrowded cities must work to survive, while social programs become saturated due to an aging population and an increase of environmental diseases.

While intelligence technology increases incrementally year after year, many jobs for the human race have failed, forcing the inhabitants of the Earth starting towards the suburbs in search of work, aided by exoskeletons that enhance their efficiency. The world of The Surge offers a very sad vision of the future, where the evolution of our technology, our society and our relationship with the environment have led to a decaying human civilization.
