Rumor: Microsoft will give access to multimedia streaming services without subscription Gold

After several years of restrictions related to Xbox Live Gold, it seems that Microsoft is changing strategy enabling users to access media streaming services even without Gold membership active. According to what is reported by the American website Ars Technica , the Redmond giant could make the announcement during the E3 to be held in less than a month in Los Angeles.

The decision has gone mainly for two reasons; the first is due to the change of guard at the top Microsoft with the departure of Don Mattrick and the second is the fact that major rivals such as Nintendo and Sony have never charged a monthly fee for access to streaming media applications on their devices. New systems such as the Apple TV, Roku and the Amazon Fire TV (the latter only present on American soil) may have increased the pressure on Xbox.

It is worth noting, however, that probably won't talk about app like YouTube but only to those with paid content: Hulu and Netflix in the USA, while here in Italy it could involve the Premium app Play, usable today only with Xbox Live Gold membership subscription in addition to Mediaset Premium. In the future, it is said that Microsoft can bring Italy both on Xbox Xbox 360 One other interesting services with other partners such as Sky.

Stay tuned, and appointment at E3 to get any reply to this rumor.
