The first details on No Man's Sky
The project leader Sean Murray said he had been a fan since I was a child's science fiction and that one of his dreams was to create a science fiction game that day to give to lovers of free rein to the exploration of unknown worlds. A boundless, dynamic Galaxy, bright where the beauty and violence occur and where every player has the opportunity to live a unique experience. These are the main topics on which Murray wants to concentrate developing No Man's Sky.
Already from his brief presentation at the VGX, the title highlighted his potential by leaving these intrigued and hopeful to have a product with "something new". Bearing in mind that the game is working a group of just four people, a number too small if we want to think of how many items are part of a software house at least the most important ones, it's hard to believe that the guys will perform Hello Games something enormous. But as stated with extreme enthusiasm by Murray, will be the great desire and passion of his guys that will try to create one of those "special" games that will redefine a generation.
With the arrival of next-gen must think so " bigger to survive " always says Murray. " We wanted to make a game of science fiction, and I don't think anyone has really done what I consider a real science fiction title for how I ". If you fail or not, this will be but Murray's intention and the great passion they're all.
But what is in fact No Man's Sky ? The title aims to abandon the usual Rails that have seen much characterize many games so far and it does so thanks to a fully procedural approach: all worlds, environments, ways of life, vegetation and objects are generated automatically and dynamically by the game. In practice the planets, trees, objects and whatnot are not designed directly to programmers but it is the title itself which generates when it creates the game world, following course basic rules imposed by developers.
This will allow each player to live a different experience: a unique concept that probably difficult to achieve, bearing in mind always to be in four developers working on it. Their promise is to create a huge universe that represents a giant puzzle that will be studied, and to study it will be explored in depth. Only approcciandosi in this way to the title, this will fully satisfy the needs of the player.
Murray explains how, when we are on a planet, all the stars visible as other planets or the same night stars will always be real objects and reach with our Spaceship: the same applies for any mountain or abyssal depths that we might want to explore.
At the beginning of the game each player will find himself on a planet "mother", and from there could start for the Galaxy with a spaceship that we can change in many ways. It is clear that space is filled with dangers from, and No Man's Sky don't miss getting worse as we continue on our journey towards the center of the Galaxy, where developers will find many surprises. In order to reach the real beauties of the universe we must cross a thousand elements planning strategies and improving our equipment.
The center of the universe is a place imbued with many secrets, though it is not said that we should go there. We will be free to do what they want but will be crucial, says Murray, don't travel alone but finding new friends with whom to collaborate. The space will be filled with players with which you can choose to ally ourselves with or not. And it is precisely here that comes into play the concept of "procedural" game that should make this product. If each planet will be unique for each player given that will be generated automatically and dynamically by the game, it's easy to think how much variety will propose No Man's Sky . Alleandoci with this or that friend we will have the opportunity to explore a different world. We can pass, how to receive continually new information relating to one or the other planet.
Murray did not deliberately in-depth editing concepts spaceships, or resource management training for groups of players, but pointed out that the trailer released during the VGX is only a small example of what can happen on a planet. E.g. those large worms that you can see towards the end of the movie, or all those natural phenomena that are constantly changing are completely random. Much will depend on the case where natural event or particular creature will be able to see. Each player will live a different experience.
For Hello Games playing in No Man's Sky assaporerà player that sensation he feels when you read a great book of science fiction and not when playing one of the many science fiction shooter. Obviously there will be times when we show the settings in our arsenal of war, but these will not be at the center of the ideas of the small development team.
In short, ideas are excellent and the immense project; certainly in the thick landscape games it would take a breath of fresh air and No Man's Sky would seem the game just for the purpose. We will not fail to promptly take all the innovations that emerge.
