Microsoft has announced the launch of a new global competition of Halo 4 , organized in collaboration with Virgin Gaming: the Halo 4 Global Championship 2013 , a five-week tournament that will allow players to win prizes totalling 500,000 dollars, including a first prize of $ 200,000.

The event will take place both online and in various local events: the Rooster Teeth Expo on 5 July, on Xbox Live from 15 July to 19 August and at Gamescom in Cologne from 21 to 25 August: six finalists from each of the two live events and 20 from the online qualifiers will have the chance to participate-at the expense of Microsoft and Virgin Gaming-in the finals to be held in Seattle on 31 August and 1 September.

Regarding the online competition to qualify players must have played at least 20 games in the tournament's playlist: at the end of each week the four players with the best average scores and winners will be elected will be able to fly to Seattle for the final. In addition, each week all participants will have various opportunities to win some special prizes.
