Microsoft rethinks: no more DRM on Xbox One

It seems that Microsoft has been listening: after the uproar and complaints of users since before E3, the House of Redmond seems to have given up officially to apply DRM on Xbox One games. The news was given by Microsoft official blog : read on.

Microsoft announced that the Xbox One games will be usable and resalable exactly as on the Xbox 360; There will be no check every 24 hours and that even digitally downloaded games (as per program will be available from day 1) will work with the offline console without any check. Obviously this will require that, for games purchased in the store, the disk appears in the console to play. As an additional note, have been deleted even the region lock, making the console region free.

The only requirement on online is that, only for the first configuration console, will be able to connect to the Internet.

Then, repeat for clarity:

  • No limit on used. You will be able to sell, lend, purchase the games exactly as we do today
  • No check online. You can play even if you don't have the Internet for weeks or months.
  • No region lock: you can buy games sold in USA or Japan
  • The first activation of the console, will be able to connect to the Internet.
Microsoft has specified that this return to the "classic model" involves the loss of some of the things advertised in the past, such as sharing in digital and probably sharing. We will update you as soon as is clarity on these points.

As they say in America, ' nuff said! We are sure that this is the news that many of you expected to read.
