Don Mattrick of Microsoft explained that existing Live Gold subscriptions can be used safely even on Xbox One : the online service will be only between the two consoles and there will be differences between a subscription created on one and another console. This will mean that users can interact with each other between the two systems, exchanging messages between the two consoles.
