Xbox One and cloud on Azure: dedicated servers for all games

During tonight's event, Microsoft has explained how the Xbox Live infrastructure will rise from the current 15,000 to incredible number of 300,000 servers, all to support the online infrastructure of Xbox One . Another interesting fact about still comes from Wired, according to which the new console can potentially benefit all dedicated servers.

The article explains that developers will be able to use the cloud computing platform from Microsoft, Azure, to create dedicated servers for each game: this will allow you to create multiplayer games that arrive even at 64 or 128 participants, rather than the usual 12 or 32 when the games are hosted by the players themselves.

Obviously this is the potential of the platform but we expect the creation of these servers is not free and that developers have to pay some sort of fee to Microsoft for the maintenance of serves in the cloud, which may bring only the most important and popular games to take advantage of this possibility.
