Brief impressions on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the shadows
The story of the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles goes back to 1983, when Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird invented and self-published the first balloon with four heroes pizza lovers. Since then the phenomenon has exploded in the form of multiple merchandising projects and multimedia productions, last of which just Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the shadows , product title thanks to a partnership between Nickelodeon and Activision and developers by Red Fly Studio.
It is a camera-free action game and can be played in single-player, impersonating one of the Ninja Turtles while IA will manage the other three, or in co-op with 2 players on the same console or 4 players linked online; as a tribute to the history of the TMNT there is also the opportunity to play in the first game of Ninja Turtles, that being developed for the arcades there appears on screen as a real arcade cabinet simulation. In the Menu there is also a dedicated Dojo training mode, where we have the opportunity to play the four different turtles and try the features that distinguish and combo.
Let's move on then to the heart of the game, with the campaign mode consists of seven levels through which develops the gameplay of the game. The story begins in the den of the Turtles in the sewers of New York: the four turtles are drawn with lines from hard and mature look. It starts as Leonardo, but the whole game is based on team collaboration with other turtles. As always there is an initial phase that allows us to become familiar with the moves and in this case we will have to learn and manage personal combo moves and combos with the team, which moves from advancing in combination with teammates. Each turtle part with a set of standard weapons during gameplay could be integrated with the ability to build new and more powerful weapons, also during the fighting there is the opportunity to interact with the environment, for example, will help us to perform special moves as engaging to a light pole, take a 360° rotation and slip back to full speed on the enemy. Very interesting then change character at any time, providing the opportunity to try out all the features that distinguish the four Turtles.
Despite being an alpha, the game was definitely fluid and well-done. An excellent opportunity to bring back the splendour of the Ninja Turtles. The release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the shadows is scheduled for the summer of 2013 on Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC (Steam).
