[AGG] Rumor: Xbox Next will be called simply Xbox, mobile device Inbox

That day would be without our dose of rumor on the next Xbox? To satisfy our thirst for gossip arrives today the videogaming site Pocket-lint , who claims to have received some interesting information from a source, as always, strictly anonymous.

Update : this rumor has been confirmed as false, even created by someone to see how easy it is to spread on the web this type of uncontrolled information, provided they are sufficiently appetizing. You can read the whole story, in English, in this page ; all info given below are therefore to be considered as fake at 100%.

The site is dedicated to mobile computing and gaming, and you'll see lower because he published a news story related to the new Xbox. But let's get to the most interesting news for us, since the name of the new console: the source of the site explained that this will be called simply Xbox without numbers or other additional terms to indicate that it is the third console. If this were true, it is impossible not to see a parallel with what has been done by Apple when he announced the third iPad, iPad instead of simply calling it "iPad 3". That Microsoft wants to follow the same strategy, referring to the next consoles simply as "the new Xbox?

With regard to the specifications of the console, the informant has confirmed many of the details that have emerged so far by specifying that it is the CPU that will be produced by AMD GPU and core 1.9 GHz will be the one instead of 1.6 indicated by a previous rumor. Regarding performance there is extremely interesting given the source of Pocket-lint claims to have a dev-kit of the console on which turns the E3 demo Watch Dogs of Ubisoft, used as a benchmark, and it runs at 50-60 fps with only 5 of the 8 cores busy at 100%. If this were true, it would be confirmation of a sicruamente very powerful hardware, since the E3 demo ran on a PC super-high end. Two of the 8 core remain, says the source, dedicated solely to the operating system that will run in the background and will not be usable from the games.

But why do I need two cores per OS in the background? Apparently will be given a set of functionality that are always present during the games as a chance to take screenshots of games to share online with SkyDrive, or make video-chat with other players (although this greatly degrade multiplayer performance, so we expect it to be used only when you are not playing online). About the controller, then, it seems that it will have the same pattern of buttons and controls than today, but will undergo a redesign.

And now we come to the most interesting information to Pocket-lint: the informant explained that the next Xbox will be also used as a sort of hub, a central connector for a variety of devices to mark "X", including a tablet for gaming called "X-Surface". This will have no operating system Windows 8 or Windows RT, but it will be a device designed and dedicated solely to mobile gaming capable of running demo of Unreal Engine 3 to 60 fps; will not have their games or applications, but will spin anything that will turn on the new Xbox, giving us access to a next-gen mobile experience. As for the controls, the tablet will be fully compatible with wireless controllers Xbox, developers won't have to adapt the games to touch interface but will be playable on X-Surface exactly as they will be on the new "Xbox".

For now, at least until the next rumor!
