Rumor: Xbox next specs according to VGLeaks
VGLeaks had announced to star time preparing the release of the next Xbox and now it's finally arrived . We see here the information revealed by the site, please remember to be unconfirmed rumor and then be taken with tongs, before moving on to some comment in the margin.
CPU:
-X 64 architecture
-8 core CPU 1.6 GHz
-CPU each thread has its own cache of first level (L1) from 32 KB to controls and its own L1 cache from 32 KB for data
-each module has four core has a cache of a second-level cache (L2) by 2 MB, for a total of 4 MB
-each core has a completely independent hardware threads without shared resources
-any hardware threads can execute two instructions per clock cycle
GPU:
-custom graphics processor at 800 MHz Direct3D 11.1 class
-12 shader cores capable of generating a total of 768 thread
-every thread can perform an operation of scalar multiplication and addition (MADD) per clock cycle
-at peak performance, the GPU can perform 1.2 trillion floating point operations per second
High-fidelity Sensor Natural User Interface (NUI) always present (Kinect)
Memory and storage:
-8 GB of DDR3 RAM
-32 MB SRAM (ESRAM) fast CPU
-from the point of view of the GPU, memory bandwidth and the ESRAM are parallel, managing to provide a peak bandwidth of 170 GB per second.
-Hard disk always present
-Blu-ray 50 GB 6 x
Network:
-Gigabit Ethernet
-Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct
Hardware Accelerators:
-Move engines (it is not clear what we are talking about here)
-Audio Codecs, pictures and videos
-Multi-channel Echo Cancellation for Kinect
-Cryptographic Engines for encryption, decryption, and hashing
Beyond the technicalities, that obviously not everyone will understand, we can extract from this list some interesting info. First the CPU to x 64 architecture instead of PowerPC as the current Xbox 360; This means a greater ease of development for projects born in PC world, as well as incompatibility with current games that, if this were confirmed, should be emulated as Xbox 360 games the first emulates the Xbox. This clearly if Microsoft wanted to achieve some kind of backwards compatibility.
We find then confirmation of 8 GB of RAM, a better not identified graphics processor capable of processing Direct3D graphics 11.1 and already appointed several times Blu-ray; Note also the presence of Kinect and Hard Disk as standard, always present.
An interesting information comes from the system diagram published by the site, which we're even: among the various input/output devices are also a HDMI input (1.4 to HMI, box green base), which suggests the possibility of using the console to receive video signals to be recorded on the Hard Disk as a PVR or for other similar purposes.
The site leaves us finally with the promise to reveal soon more details on each component of the console: we'll keep an eye out and inform you in a timely manner, hoping at the same time that Microsoft decides to put an end to the many rumor officially announcing the console and spreading the internal specifications.
