In an interview with the game director Tore Blystad spoke about the future of the Hitman series, comparing the job done with Square Enix to what Treyarch and Infinity Ward do with the Call of Duty series, taking turns in the production.

"With these large production takes a long time to develop a single game, working a little bit in parallel allows you to help each other".

"There are talks between us and of course we have to be in sync but it is the first time we can say that the Hitman went outside the House and luckily with someone we know. Some of the developers are however IO Interactive and have worked on some previous chapters so it's not like it's completely new hands ".

Blystad then talked about the next installment of the series that will always be developed collaboratively with Square Enix but that this will not increase the output frequency. Especially stressing that the franchise will not ever completely in Montreal.
