Rumor: MS ready to "monetize" best Xbox Live

In the Linkedin profile of Microsoft's Product Planner Praveen Rutnam emerged an interesting information: it does hint at the fact that, from Christmas 2012, the company will launch a program to "monetize further" the Xbox Live user base.

On the meaning of this phrase can only make guesses based on rumor. One is that Microsoft wants to really launch an Xbox 360 Lite, a device the size of a decoder without disk reader and thought only for watching movies in streaming media and other content for the game with a series of Live Arcade titles selected; This would increase the base of Xbox Live users to mate and households who do not want a gaming console but who might be attracted by the multimedia capabilities of the console. If the rumors are correct, such a device could be announced at E3, in early June.

Another possibility is that indicated by other recent rumors suggesting that Microsoft is about to abandon the system of Microsoft Points for payments in local currency-dollars, euros, and so forth. But it is not clear how this would help to "monetize further" service, because if on the one hand, anyone can buy content instantly without having to first buy a certain number of points, it is also true that for users without credit is much more convenient to buy a card points-often found at discounted prices-then use it for purchases of digital content.

We have to wait: very probably at E3 will be revealed and we'll be there to tell you about it.
