Halo 4: O'Connor describes new approaches to multiplayer
O'Connor begins to describe a new approach to multiplayer from the team: " what we take into serious consideration is to change the habits of players. Instead of chasing Call of Duty or Battlefield and trying unfairly to recopy, maybe even worse, their ideas, we are trying to create something original that is fully compatible with the Halo universe. [...] Many of the things that can Call of Duty is the perfect reward players for their actions; this is not what we are doing . "
Both O'Connor and Josh Holmes are agreed that these changes could lead to different reactions from the community but no one wants to continue to tread the solid road traced by Bungie: " we have great respect for the universe that Bungie has created, but we want to pursue our unique vision on Halo and on which way we want to bring it back to the future: this is basically to find a balance between Halo and innovation ".
O'Connor concludes that what was shown by 343 Industries at Spring Showcase is the most traditional of Halo 4 and revolutionary elements which we will see in the coming months could create some confusion: the development team obviously hopes that both a "positive confusion", considering that everything that was done was carefully studied down to the smallest details.
