Namco releases Star Trek game to be released in 2013
Namco Bandai and Paramount set to Star Trek
Paramount Pictures and NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe S.A.S, one of the most important companies in the publishing and distribution of video games, announced today that they have signed an agreement whereby NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. co-publishes and distributes the much anticipated videogame Star Trek worldwide during the first quarter of 2013 for all major home console and PC.
The fighting game based on the action is scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2013, before the release in theaters, on 17 may, the next Star Trek production directed and produced by J.J. Abrams. The game, thanks to CBS Consumer Products, is based on an independent storyline that continues the adventures of the legendary characters Kirk and Spock and their joint attempt to stop the rush of the enemy toward the conquest of the Galaxy.

Paramount has unveiled a pre-alpha version of the videogame Star Trek during the Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3) 2011 and got accolades from critics including the prestigious awards "Most Valuable Game" from Official Xbox Magazine, PlayStation: The Official Magazine, as well as being included as one of CNN's Top 5 Games of E3 2011 list. The videogame Star Trek got a further appreciation with an exclusive trailer made its debut during the opening speech of Sony Computer Entertainment of America at its annual Conference at E3.
The video game Star Trek is in development at Digital Extremes (Bioshock 2, Unreal Tournament, Dark Sector, The Darkness II), based in Ontario, with production supervised by Brian Miller, Creative Executive at Paramount. "The joint work with Paramount Pictures and Digital Extremes strengthens the commitment and willingness of NAMCO BANDAI Games to extend its portfolio with triple ' A ' Western development, in addition to his famous and recognized Japanese franchise," said Olivier Comte. "The attention to detail and Digital Extremes working with Paramount Pictures and with the Bad Robot Interactive team will be able to create an authenticity that will surprise fans of Star Trek and the players."
The original story of the game is written by Marianne Krawczyk, BAFTA Award winner and author of God of War, in collaboration with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the writers and producers of the upcoming Star Trek film. Built as a co-op experience, the definitive Star Trek video game allows players to control both Kirk and Spock in a huge journey of epic proportions through unexplored planets and enemy warships equipped with weapons and more advanced equipment in the 23rd century.
