Mark Rein: Unreal Engine 4 weeks this year
The Unreal Engine is one of the most graphic engines used by software to produce quality games thanks to its ease of programming and the UDK application recently had helped to enlarge the potential audience of developers also to normal players. Before you make assumptions on next-gen recall the location addressed by the various versions of the engine in the past and let us make use of comparison:
- Unreal Engine 3 for the first time on May 13, 2004
- In development by 18 months
- Xbox 360 officially presented on May 12, 2005 (exactly one year after)
- Xbox 360 sold since November 22, 2005
- The first game developed with the UE3: Gears of War-November 7, 2007
Let's see a hypothetical way, obviously based on previous data for next-generation consoles:
- Unreal Engine 4 presented at the end of 2012
- Samaritan could represent the UE4, contrary to stated? (in development for several months)
- The next generation of console potentially announced at E3 2013
- New console coming at the end of 2013.
- The first game developed with the UE4: between 2014 and 2015
The Unreal Engine could of course draw a different location compared to the UE3 and perhaps Microsoft and Sony play in advance, although it is unlikely to happen. Meanwhile we had confirmation that most software houses have already mobilized to be ready for next-gen: we'll see if the new console will be presented this year or in 2013.
