Microsoft at CES: few novelties, still nothing next-gen

As expected, tonight Steve Ballmer Microsoft Conference held at CES in Las Vegas, but unfortunately the long-awaited announcement of a new Xbox, albeit only in the form of hints to the technology or the specifications of the next car, there was. In fact the whole event was devoid of significant announcements: interesting ones include the announcement of the achievement of the 66 million Xbox 360 sold worldwide and 44 million Xbox Live users, with approximately 18 million Kinect so far sold, definitely notable.

Ballmer has announced the arrival in February Kinect for Windows and the next release-but for now only for the USA-a series of new multimedia applications for Xbox 360: IGN, Fox and Fox News. Finally, the CEO of Microsoft announced that Xbox Live will come in the future a new kind of interactive television programs created specifically to exploit potentialities of Kinect: e.g. be produced a series of exclusive episodes of Sesame Street where children can interact with Elmo doing various actions. But even here it is for now to something that will see American users only: we do not know if there are similar programs for European markets, much less for the Italian.
