According to Kotaku reported from an internal source of Bethesda, Doom 4 would have been postponed indefinitely because of the disappointing performance of id Software's Rage. The decision was taken at a meeting in Dallas where they would be treated the problems and criticisms of the latest creation of John Carmack and ZeniMax and Bethesda have said that the presence of "a serious lack of confidence in project management Id." Update: Peter Hines of Bethesda has said, via Twitter, that leaked this morning on Doom 4 are totally unfounded.
