According to the press kit last Halo book, entitled Cryptum, a film adaptation of the series created by Bungie would be arriving in 2012, even with the involvement of Steven Spielberg. Rumors of the involvement of Spielberg in a movie of Halo had already circulated in August 2010 and October 2009 before then, though he eventually seemed to have dispersed into thin air.

Today, however, the French site has posted a scan of Halo.fr material that would be just contained within the press kit of the new Halo book. "A film adaptation is planned for 2012. It will be conducted jointly by two heavyweights of American cinema: Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks," reads a section of the scan in question, of course, translated from French.

343 Industries was contacted about this, but for now has not released any comment. Sure, it's hard to think that Spielberg would direct the Halo movie in 2012, especially since at the time the film has already in hand based on the President Lincoln and also the film sci-fi Robopocalypse.
