With the release of a screenshot on the Facebook page of Prey 2, Bethesda tells us that Tommy, the protagonist of the original game, will make its appearance in this sequel and, according to reports from developers, it will by no means a marginal role in course of events. Chris Rhinehart of Human Head has affirmed: "Initially we did not want to reveal the presence of Tommy giving a surprise to fans who want to play an important role in history."

On why Tommy is not the star of this sequel, Rhinehart concluded by saying that the development team wanted to expand the universe of Prey 2 telling new stories, introducing new characters and different game mechanics, while retaining the character of the first game as a key figure.
