Rumor: next Xbox announced in a year, uses DirectX 11

It is now widely believed that the next generation of Xbox will be announced at E3 2012 in a year, and now comes another unofficial confirmation of this: the site Videogamer.com claims to have received information from one source " High-level internal Crytek, which would have revealed that not only will be disclosed within 12 months of the new Xbox, but the developer is already working on their first title for the new console: TimeSplitters 4.

It appears that developers Crytek UK - formerly Free Radical - are engaged in developing the new title by relying on CryEngine 3 and DirectX 11, which will form the basis of the graphical capabilities of the new console. According to the informant of the site, this will allow the adoption of specific techniques such as the DX11 Tesselation, rendering multithreaded and compute shaders for graphics considerably higher than today.

The source of Videogamer.com also explained that the specifications of the console have not yet been determined by MS and probably the house of Redmond will announce and launch the new Xbox before when Sony will succeed with the PS3.

So it seems that the next 12 months, especially those final will be very interesting: we have to wait to find out what surprises we reserve the new Microsoft platform.
