Netherrealm announced that a mysterious red ninja will be released in the coming weeks as DLC for Mortal Kombat. Executive producer Ed Boon has stated that the launch of downloadable content will coincide with a patch designed to better balance the game, promising the presence of free content in the DLC Skarlet who is also the name of our new character. Skarlet is actually the name that was given in Mortal Kombat II to the red version of Kitana, probably the result of a glitch at the time. History has it that the community renamed Skarlet this character and she herself will be the new fighter, Mortal Kombat.

Netherrealm then stated that small scale changes and the game will be made without downloading any patches. Boon was still required to clarify that any fix or change will be made public in the official site, so players can always keep things under control.
