NPD: U.S. sales for the month of March

The financial analysis firm NPD has released sales data hardware and software of the US market for the month of March 2011. Also this month has seen Xbox 360 dominate the sales of the console market with 433,000 units sold compared to 290,000 an increasingly declining Nintendo Wii. Not even this time Sony wanted to spread the PS3 's sales figures, but expect that you have placed in second place, around 300,000 units sold.

A given interesting comes though worldwide sales: while Microsoft had announced in January that he sold 50.8 million Xbox 360 worldwide, Sony has now announced that they have reached with the 50 million PS3 FIFA in March. This means that, thanks to sales of Japanese and European markets, the console Sony has managed over time to erode the advantage of Microsoft albeit not superandola: you can, however, that boost the recent sales by MS through Kinect makes more difficult the task to Sony.

The software is instead dominated by the new Pokemon black and white for Nintendo DS, but there is also an excellent performance of Homefront of THQ, battered by critics but obviously rewarded at the box office, managing to overcome even Crysis 2, released the same month. Below is the complete rankings.
